Hello my name is Yann Isabel, I'm a french Frontend developer passionate about Design Systems. I'm currently working in Paris.
This website was created to show my web projects and introduce myself.
At the bottom of the page you will find some links to my social media accounts. Feel free to contact or follow me there.
In this section About you'll learn about my skills, I'll talk about my professional experiences and some of my favorite things in life. In a nutshell, all the things to know me better!
Let's start with a little summary.
I first became interested in graphic design for what it brought to communication. The graphic design being the fact of communicating by the image (drawing, painting, animation, photography...).
After a few experiences in graphic design and advertising areas I turned to the web and more specifically to webdesign and frontend development. When we have a passion for graphic design it's obvious that webdesign was the logical next step.
In this idea I integrated one to another training related to the web (3 between 2013 and 2016) while developing my skills in self-taught.
That way I started to work with my first digital team for Pilot'in and working independantly on some webdesign and development projects for their customers.
Then I was able to join the Wengo team with whom I worked for 13 months as a web integrator. This year was surely the one that brought me the most skills and enthusiasm for my professional project. My job within this team was to integrate the content sent by the design team with a code/mockup coherence. I was also responsible of a project in total autonomy as an integrator on the Astrocenter websites.
Then I started working as a Frontend developer at NeoLynk which led me to work in different teams.
My first client was Aptus Health where I was responsible for the migration of the front multilingual platform Univadis to version 2.0 under Symfony 3.
The second one was France TV sport where I was responsible of the frontend of the Front Office platform (Symfony 3 and template twig engine) but also the frontend of the Back Office (creation of a theme for the Drupal 8 Back Office). In this team I was at the initiative of the France TV sport design system and I made presentations with Product Owners and designers in front of other France TV teams to evangelize the usefulness of collaboration within the product teams.
These presentations inspired the creation of a design system common to each team of France TV based on the methodology of Atomic Design.
Since this last experience I specialize myself in the creation of design systems. In this perspective, after 2 years with France TV sport I left them and I stopped my consulting job to join Artifakt to help them in the development of a great product which allows technical teams to deploy their applications simply via the cloud.
Visual Studio Code
Let's say I fell in when I was a child in my first drawings. This is the domain that interesting me the most
I'm fond of all creations and innovations in visual art. The Art takes multiple shapes and is often associated to performance or the emotion that some things can make us feel. In this category I obviously include the design and the interface creation that has become a bit of my new hobby.
I'm fascinated by all the technological innovations that surround us and the impact they can have on the way we live and carry out tasks that sometimes seem to us without any possible evolution.
It's hard for me not to be interested in High Tech and technological innovations related to the design or tools that helps to create. Not to mention all the crazy innovations that we thought we saw only on TV (touch devices, augmented reality ...).
I like to read but what I certainly appreciate more is to write. I have been writing novels since my school years and although my stories have never been published and have been buried in a drawer I continue to put my ideas on paper.
Beyond paper I also write articles on Medium on different topics. We must not lose the pen even in a virtual world like ours.
I even think I read somewhere that writing helped to maintain cognitive abilities in the same way as speech. So some writing workshops are organized in some centers for people with Alzheimer's disease, for example. So let's write!
I have been a self-taught bassist for many years and I also compose a lot of personal music (mostly symphonic metal, orchestral music).
I also listen to a lot of music. I work with music, I travel with music, I laugh with music and everything else.
I think a world without music would be difficult or very different. Even in the movies music is omnipresent. A film without music would not be jumping during a horror movie or get bored while Hobbits walk in the plains.
Often behind a computer screen I find that human relations are still very important for the exchange of ideas, culture, point of view and especially because we are human after all.
